The End of the Page

Now you know and knowing is just a touch over half the battle.

Daily Musings 2/25

Posted by goldwriting on February 25, 2008

1) I’m having chuckle aftershocks a month or so after Sarah Silverman unleashed the “I’m F*cking Matt Damon” video on Jimmy Kimmel’s show. Now the retort from her real life boyfriend, Kimmel unvieled his own song, “I’m F*cking Ben Affleck” on his show last night after the Oscars. I will say it’s funny, but most of it’s humor comes from the cavalcade of guest stars Jimmy rounded up for the song. Personal favorite, Huey Lewis! Back to the Future, baby!

2) Where the Wild Things Are is still in some type of turmoil. They are doing reshoots, but they are being directed by Spike Jonze and are mainly being done to fix some of the CGI issues, with a little script work tossed in. This has better still make it into the theaters because if it doesn’t, the Wild Thing is going to be me and I won’t be on roaming around on some crazy island, I’ll be crashing headlong through the soundstage walls over at Warner Brothers. Grrrr…

3) SNL returned this weekend with Tina Fey at the helm. Overall a decent show and it was good to see them back in tune with ripping apart the political process. My personal highlight was this parody commercial for once-a-year period medication:

4) For those who might have missed the movie The Cell, it is one of the most wildly visual and trippy pieces of film in recent history. So, needless to say, when Tarse, the director of The Cell, comes out with a new film, be prepared for sights unseen and things you might never forget. Here’s the trailer for his new journey, The Fall (which is only two letters off from The Cell, coincidence? Hmmm…)

5) I’m pretty sure dry humping a reporter is not necessary to describe blocking technique, but who am I to say. This white man cannot jump at all.

6) More hilarity from the Robots Can’t Act group! There new target: Juno!

7) I guess I am just too old, but this certainly would not make it easier for me to get a rectal temperature taken:

8 – David Bowie is trying to make sure that his kid doesn’t drift into drugs the way he did by telling him how it has permanently damaged his memory. I wonder if he’s talking about that seven year stretch where he told everyone he was an alien named Ziggy Stardust. You mean he was on drugs during that? Noooooo…

9) Jamie Foxx is reportedly signing on to play Mike Tyson in a biopic about the troubled boxer’s life. I’m going to be impressed if they can make a film that leaves out the rape, aggravated assault charges, drug use, ear biting, sexual harassment, bankruptcy…wait a second, was this about Mike Tyson or 82% of the U.S. Senate?

10) Vampire fans prepare to kinda, sorta, halfway get excited. Anne Rice is coming back to Lestat. After her religious rebirth and renunciation of the vampire lore, she is ready to return to the fold, but only to end the series finally and she said the book will have a lot to do with Lestat and the search for God and a soul. I still don’t know where you can go with a series like this after you have already had the main character drink the blood of Jesus right from his neck. Some call that “jumping the shark”, I call it “vampire bad-ass-itude”.

To do something, however small, to make others happier and better, is the highest ambition, the most elevating hope, which can inspire a human being.
