The End of the Page

Now you know and knowing is just a touch over half the battle.

Daily Musings 3/25

1 – I might not have to rely on spell check so much if I had this rad book to teach me my letters as a kid. That’s right, I said ‘rad’. Can you handle it? [via swissmiss]

2 – The torch is not necessarily being passed, maybe it’s a matchstick or one of those annoying never-go-out birthday candles. Stephen King has written a novella with his son, Joe Hill (why he has a different last name, I have no idea). They wrote it as a collection called He is Legend, a dedication honoring Richard Matheson. The King’s story is a retelling of Matheson’s Duel, which was originally adapted to the screen as the first feature effort of another famous Steven, that one was Spielberg. [via Lilja’s Library]

3 – We all learned while watching old episodes of Benny Hill some things are especially funny when done in fast motion. Now there’s a viral internet group that proves the opposite is true also, well, maybe not funny, but these experiments are certainly interesting when done in super slo-mo: [via Dave]

4 – The marketing campaign for the upcoming The Dark Knight film has certainly pushed new borders for thinking outside the box. They had vans driving all over the country promoting a fake political campaign for the movie’s resident politician-turned-villain Harvey Dent (who later becomes Two-Face). Now, unknowing whether or not they are part of the marketing ploy, some people have started showing up to these set-up rallies dressed in joker gear and protesting the corruption of Dent and his office. I’ve got two ways to describe this situation: genius marketing -or- restraining orders. You choose. [via FilmDrunk]

5 – This is the best title for a movie I have heard in years: I Am a Genius of Unspeakable Evil and I want to be Your Class President. Check out the synopsis here, but honestly, I don’t even need one. I’m there. [via ComingSoon]

6 – One thing you should never, ever do as a movie studio head is piss off your die-hard super-geek fanbase. This unfortunately seems to be the current tactic of Harvey Weinstein and his handling of the sure-to-be cult phenom Fanboys. There is a debate raging between the filmmakers and the studio over the version to release in the theaters and until that gets resolved Harvey is not letting it out anywhere. Fans have been screaming for this comedic tale of four Star Wars fanatics breaking into the Skywalker Ranch in order to oversee the production of The Phantom Menace. I hope they realize the farther they push this out, the less people are going to care because we’ll basically succeed in our attempts to block Phantom completely from our memories. I know I have. Blocked it out, that film, the one I can’t remember… [via Hollywood Reporter]

7 – Evidently I really need to see The Wicker Man because this is almost too ridiculous to be true (the audio is taken from the movie, video provided by the lovely and resilient Megaman video game): [via FilmDrunk]

8 – Following nicely on the last post about Mario and his frustration with the consistently missing princess, here’s a video showing what would go down if Mario’s fuse was just a little bit shorter. [via GorillaMask via UnitedNothing]

9 – Office Dare of the Day: Suggest at the beginning of a meeting that it might be more productive to have the meeting in a pub or bar. (This is a dare? I thought that was protocol? Oh man, what was the first step of that program again?)

10 – And I thought I barely made it through life, these people need to pick a God and start setting up a payment plan: [via GorillaMask and Neenja]

The death defying video truly starts out with my favorite one, the old guy just barely getting touched by the car skidding around the corner. I’m grateful the dude isn’t dead, but I swear the people who crowd the streets during these rally events are just begging to be splattered.

Mario ripping the wings off the flying turtle. Moment to treasure forever.
